MORE ABOUT OUR WORK
What is STATE COMMITTEE:
The Democratic State Committee is the organization that oversees the NY State Democratic Party. This body is composed of State Committee members, who represent districts like AD 34 throughout the great state of New York. Each Assembly District elects two State Committee members (one male and one female) to a two-year term representing their districts.
State Committee is responsible for steering the NY Democratic Party’s agenda, and creates the platform, rules and regulations for the state’s Democratic Party. State Committee members also vote on resolutions that impact the state party, as well as selecting the party leadership and set ethical standards.
John is the male State Committee member from Assembly District 34, and is composed of the neighborhoods of Astoria and Jackson Heights, and is up for re-election in 2024.
What is a JUDICIAL DELEGATE:
New York State Supreme Court is the lower-level court for felony criminal matters and civil cases where more than $25k is on the line. Judges who preside over these cases are elected for 14-year terms and have a HUGE impact on our criminal justice system.
In Queens County, the local Democratic Party holds a Judicial Convention of any year where there is an upcoming vacancy on the Supreme Court. Each assembly district, like AD 34, elects delegates to attend this convention. At the convention, Judicial Delegates determine which judges will be nominated to the NY State Supreme Court, and be on the ballot in November.
Each assembly district elects a number of delegates to attend the Judicial Convention, and John is running to be one of your delegates for Assembly District 34.
